About Je Rome Hotel
Je Rome Hotel is the newest addition to The Ner Collection, a boutique hotel group that operates four distinctive properties in Rome: The Cross, The Major, Relais Monti, and Je Rome. As the group’s latest opening, Je Rome represents their continued commitment to offering unique accommodations throughout the Eternal City.
Located in the heart of Rome, just steps from the majestic Trevi Fountain, Je Rome features 29 elegant rooms along with the Anavà Restaurant and Cocktail Bar on the ground floor. The hotel showcases a classic style reimagined with modern design elements, including elegant gold trim throughout the rooms and copper fixtures in the bathrooms.
While the hotel was originally scheduled to open in April 2025, it was forced to push that opening back a few weeks while it finished off some of the details. Je Rome Hotel officially welcomed its first guests in May 2025.
All Roads Lead To Je Rome
Let’s start with what truly makes Je Rome Hotel special—its unbeatable location. Situated just one or two streets from the Trevi Fountain, we could be standing before Baroque’s most famous fountain within seconds of leaving the hotel. The central positioning means you’re also perfectly placed for exploring Rome’s other treasures: the Pantheon is nearby, the Colosseum is about a 20-minute walk, and Vatican City is roughly 25-30 minutes on foot.
The neighborhood buzzes with life, and you’re never short on dining options. Italian restaurants are everywhere you turn, and the area is home to several Michelin-starred and Michelin-recommended restaurants for those seeking exceptional culinary experiences. We even discovered a surprisingly good Chinese restaurant right next door, perfect for when you need a break from Italian cuisine.
How to Get to Je Rome Hotel
Getting to Je Rome Hotel is straightforward, though we highly recommend taking a taxi over the metro for a stress-free arrival.
From Roma Termini Station: The hotel is just a 5-10 minute drive from Rome’s main train station. Our taxi cost approximately €15, which felt reasonable for the convenience, even though it was not a far drive (only about 4km).
From the Airport: There’s a fixed rate of €55 for transfers between Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Je Rome Hotel in either direction, or €40 for transfers between Ciampino Airport (CIA). These fixed rates are to any destination within the city’s Aurelian Wall from the airports. While it’s pricier than public transport for 1-2 people, it’s worth it when you’re dealing with luggage and want to arrive without hassle. If you have 3 people, its the same price as the train. Anymore than 3 and the taxi is the more economical option.
The Metro: While a new metro stop is being built near the Monumento di Vittorio Emanuele II that will eventually be the closest station, it’s still under construction. Currently, the nearest metro stop is Barberini, which is a 10-15 minute walk away—and that time increases significantly when you’re dragging luggage. Between the distance and Rome’s numerous cobblestone streets, we don’t recommend the metro route for getting to the hotel, especially with bags.
A Prosecco Welcome With A Wait
Check-in begins at 2:00 PM, though our 2:30 PM arrival revealed that our room wasn’t quite ready. The staff graciously offered us complimentary prosecco at the bar while we waited—a nice touch—but it still took another 30 minutes before we could access our room. Once ready, we headed up to the fourth floor in the elevator to our Deluxe room.
The elevator in the hotel is small – just big enough for luggage or 2-3 people. You’ll likely have to send your luggage up first or behind you unless you’re travelling light.
We entered our room 404 on the 4th floor. Upon first glance, the room felt smaller than what we’d seen in the photos. After checking the floor plan behind the door, we thought we’d been given what appeared to be the smallest room on the floor. Despite our inquiries with reception and the manager, we were assured this was indeed the Deluxe category, though it certainly felt more like the standard room tier.
Undeterred, we explored our room as we got settled. Everything had a lovely modern and new feel which was great. A small welcome note with some candy was awaiting us on the bed. The room was nicely cool thanks to the slow silent waft of the air conditioner. We did discover that our television had no signal on any channel – a technical issue that would plague our entire stay. More on that later.
Room Categories
Je Rome offers five distinct room categories across its 29 rooms, each designed to offer a unique experience with a combination of elegance, comfort and attention to detail:
Single French Room – The most compact option with modern, functional styling, but only suitable for solo travelers.
Superior Room– A step up in space and comfort, about 16m2.
Deluxe Room – Marketed as the “Luxury Experience” tier (this is what we booked), these rooms are advertised as 20m2.
Junior Suite – Offering more space and elegance, these 24m2 rooms have more space to spread out.
Suite – The top category promising maximum luxury and comfort. At 35m2, there’s room for a freestanding tub and sitting area.
We opted for the Deluxe category room, hoping a more spacious room based on the photos. The room we got was smaller than the ones pictured unfortunately.
Where Modern Design Meets Roman Comfort
Despite the size discrepancy, there’s no denying that Je Rome’s rooms are beautifully appointed. The design is sleek and contemporary, featuring elegant gold trim throughout and stylish copper fixtures in the bathroom. The large walk-in rainfall shower was a particular highlight, offering a spa-like experience after long days exploring the city. We were big fans of the bathroom tiling too – the tessellating triangle pattern dotted with gold tiles made the room feel luxurious.
The large king bed in our Deluxe room was notably comfortable and soft, providing a good night’s rest despite the room size disappointment. One feature we absolutely appreciated was the excellent air conditioning. During Rome’s sweltering summer heat, having powerful, reliable AC made all the difference in getting a good night’s sleep (and comfort during the day).
Modern conveniences include a Nespresso machine and mini bar fridge (with chargeable items such as waters, soft drinks, wines and beers), and some rooms even boast private balconies. The finishing touches are clearly high-quality, and make for a luxurious stay.
Amenities at Je Rome Hotel
Don’t come to Je Rome expecting an extensive amenities list. The hotel keeps things simple with a small, basic gym on the basement level (-1), along with a sauna. There’s no pool or other resort-style facilities—this is a boutique hotel focused on location and design rather than comprehensive amenities.
Anavà Restaurant & Bar
The ground floor of Je Rome Hotel houses Anavà Restaurant and Cocktail Bar, where guests can enjoy signature cocktails and dishes featuring authentic flavors and tradition. While we didn’t get a change to enjoy a dinner here, we did stop by the bar for evening drinks and found the cocktails to be quite good. The restaurant is beautifully finished, with gold trim tables, copper wine racks and elegant chairs. The entire restaurant is reminiscent of the refined and elegant guest rooms and fits in to the whole theme.
The breakfast carries a €25 per person price tag, which includes a buffet spread with coffee. However, certain items like omelets and pancakes require an additional charge. There is also the option for the a la carte breakfast, with numerous dishes such as eggs, toast, cerals and more.
We decided to skip the hotel breakfast and explore Rome’s cafes instead—a decision that both saved money and added to our authentic Roman experience. There’s no shortage of restaurants in Rome and especially around this great location. If you choose to eat outside the hotel you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Service at Je Rome Hotel
The service at Je Rome was friendly but inconsistent, revealing some growing pains you might expect from a newly opened property. The staff took our bags to our room upon arrival, which was appreciated given the small elevator, and stored them after we checked out, but other requests proved problematic.
Two frustrating examples: we discovered there are no irons or steamers in the rooms. After calling for one and were told they would bring us one to our room, we waited an hour with no response. We eventually decided to place a follow-up call to reception and we were told they didn’t have any available – a surprising oversight for a hotel of this caliber.
As for the television issue previously mentioned, we discovered on our first day just after check in that our television did not work. No signal was being received on any channel. A technician attempted to fix it on the first day, but had no success. To the hotel’s credit, the manager left us a bottle of prosecco as an apology on the first night which was a nice touch. What let it down was that we never heard anything further about it for the remainder of our 4 night stay. The lack of follow-up communication was disappointing and left us without a working TV for our entire visit.
The Verdict
Je Rome Hotel is a study in contrasts. On one hand, you have an absolutely stellar location that puts you in the beating heart of Rome, just seconds from one of the world’s most iconic fountains. The rooms are undeniably beautiful, with modern finishes and thoughtful design touches that showcase quality. On the other hand, the property is clearly working through growing pains typical of a new opening- from inconsistent service to amenities that don’t quite meet expectations for this category.
The question isn’t whether Je Rome is a good hotel; it’s whether it’s the right hotel for you. If location trumps everything else on your priority list and you can be patient with a property still finding its rhythm, you’ll likely be satisfied. The bones are excellent, and with time and attention to guest feedback, this could easily become a standout in Rome’s boutique hotel scene. For now, it’s a promising option with some rough edges that need smoothing.
What We Loved
- Unbeatable location – being steps from Trevi Fountain and right in the center of Rome is worth its weight in gold
- Modern, stylish rooms – beautifully finished with high-quality touches
- Excellent air conditioning – essential for Rome’s hot summer months
- Great bar – solid cocktails in a chic setting
What Needs Improvement
- Television functionality – our TV never worked despite reporting it
- Service consistency – friendliness is there, but follow-through needs work
- Basic amenities – more irons/steamers needed to serve all guests
Final Recommendation
Overall Rating: 8/10
Je Rome Hotel is a boutique stay with tremendous potential that’s still finding its footing. If location is your top priority and you can overlook some service hiccups, you’ll likely enjoy your stay. The rooms are genuinely beautiful, and there’s something magical about being able to pop out to the Trevi Fountain on a whim and be there in 30 seconds.
Would we stay again? Yes, especially for the location. The property just needs to iron out the wrinkles (pun intended) and it will be perfect.
