Atlasan Adventure ATV Tour in Ubud Bali driving through jungle and muddy puddles

Alasan Adventure ATV Review: The Best ATV Tour in Bali?

·

With our Bali trip on the horizon, I had one main adventure activity on my mind that I absolutely had to do while we were in Ubud. Speeding through the jungle on quad bikes through caves and waterfalls sounded like the best way to spend a morning, so I made it my mission to find the best ATV tour in Ubud.

Picture this: you’re tearing through Bali’s jungle on a quad bike, mud flying everywhere, navigating rivers and cave tunnels, with nothing but rice paddies and mountains around you. Then you finish covered head to toe in dirt, rinse off in hot showers, and spend the afternoon lounging by infinity pools overlooking rice terraces with a cold Bintang in hand. All included in one tour.

Sounds too good to be true? That’s exactly what we thought when we found Alasan Adventure, Ubud’s only 5-star ATV tour. And here’s the best part: we paid far less than the official ticket prices by booking through Klook, and in the end it was almost the cheapest ATV tour we found.

If you’ve been scrolling through dozens of Ubud ATV tour options feeling overwhelmed and wondering which one is actually worth your money, this review is for you.

Why We’re Writing This Review

When we were searching for “best ATV tours in Ubud” and “which ATV tour Ubud,” we found plenty of Google and TripAdvisor reviews, but nothing that really detailed the full experience. We came across tons of different companies offering ATV tours, and honestly, we were tempted to just pick whichever one was closest to our hotel. That would’ve been fine—but we wanted the best experience possible. A solid tour with good facilities and options.

During our research, we also realized that sites like GetYourGuide, Klook, and Viator have loads of listings that are just resellers for the main ATV companies. There are so many listings that it gets overwhelming trying to figure out which ones are actually good and which tour to finally book.

After digging around for a while, we stumbled across Alasan Adventure’s ATV tours. Located in the Tegallalang area close to the Tegallalang Rice Fields, Alasan Adventure offers not just ATV tours but multiple adventure activities on-site — paintball, cycling, and e-biking. When we googled the company, we discovered that Alasan Adventure is part of the Alas Harum Bali group, which runs several different venues in the area.

Alas Harum operates multiple locations around Tegallalang, including the popular Cretya Ubud day club, the equally stylish and newer Cretya Sunset day club (where you get your included lunch), Cretya Lite restaurants, and the main Alas Harum venue with swings, ziplines, paintball, a coffee plantation and more. Once we learned this, we figured Alasan Adventure was likely a professional company worth our money — and we were right.

What Makes Alasan Adventure Different

Alasan Adventure is Ubud’s only 5-star ATV tour, run by the established Alas Harum group. This isn’t your typical budget quad biking Ubud experience — it’s genuinely a luxury ATV tour Ubud that stands apart from the cheaper options.

Here’s the kicker: we found it was actually one of the cheapest options, depending on where you buy your tickets. More on that below.

What We Actually Experienced At Atlasan Adventure ATV

We’re going to walk you through the whole day so you know exactly what to expect.

Arrival and Check-In

We arrived at 8:30 AM for our 9:00 AM tour. Our Grab driver dropped us off at the main office at Cretya Sunset day club. From there, a free shuttle (like an open-air golf cart) took up about 5 minutes up the road to the actual ATV location. If you’re running late, you can also have your driver take you straight to the ATV location instead.

After getting off the shuttle, we walked up stairs to the front office. This is where you read and sign the waiver while waiting for your tour time. The reception area immediately caught our attention — it’s modern, stylish, and clearly new construction. Comfortable lounge chairs, nice decor — it genuinely feels 5-star, not like some ramshackle adventure operation.

Gearing Up For Adventure

We were only at reception for a minute before being sent upstairs to gear up. Here we got a helmet, gumboots/rain boots with “socks” (which were literally just plastic bags), and a locker key. Locker rental is free, and you can leave your key with the desk to keep it safe during the tour.

One important tip: Keep everything in your locker – phones, sunglasses, watches, wallets, the lot. You get quite dirty and muddy on the ATV tour, and it’s really easy to lose valuables and never find them again. You go through rivers, mud, tunnels, and dirt. If you drop something out there, it’s pretty much gone forever.

The Route Through Jungle, Waterfalls, and Farms

After heading down to the ATV area, we met our guide who gave us a brief lesson on how to operate the ATVs. Then we were off—straight up a hill, through muddy dirt pathways. There’s no practice area or warm-up zone—you head straight for the trails and the first section is your practice. The guides ride behind and watch how you’re handling the terrain, which is actually a smart way to gauge everyone’s skill level. Our group of 6 made our way through the starting terrain, winding through paths, puddles, mud and more.

Once the guides figured out everyone’s ability level, they even went the extra mile. The two of us we were much faster and more comfortable on the ATV bikes than the other group of four in our tour, so the guide radioed for a second tour guide to meet us. Our group of 6 was then split up just after the start of the tour, and we ended up with a private tour for just the two of us, while the other group got another guide and took a slower pace. This is exactly the kind of thoughtful service that made Alasan Adventure stand out to us — they adapted to different skill levels instead of forcing everyone to stick together.

While we’re not certain if this is standard practice or if we just got lucky as we were the first tour of the day, it was still a great touch.

The tour itself was genuinely fun. We rode through caves, rivers, manmade dams, dirt tracks, muddy pathways, past chicken coops and cow pens, and up and down mountains. The terrain is quite varied.

While we didn’t actually go through rice paddies (despite what we expected) as we were in the jungle and on a mountainous hill, but we did ride through and alongside small local farms with chickens and cows. Quick heads up — the chickens aren’t caged, they roam freely, so watch out for them on the trail! Our guide always slowed down near them and told us to do the same, so it wasn’t an issue. Just something to be aware of.

The quad biking Ubud experience gives you a real taste of the countryside—not just the postcard-perfect stuff, but actual working farms and jungle trails that feel authentic.

The Rest Stop

About three-quarters through the tour, we stopped at a purpose-built rest station at the top of the mountain. There’s a great overlook of the valley below, plus a small cafe with food and drinks you can purchase. You don’t need to bring money—they’ll make a bill and you pay at the very end. Water is 30,000 IDR (~$1.80 USD / $2.70 AUD), soft drinks are 35,000 IDR ($2.10 USD / $3.15 AUD) and you can even get a Bintang beer for 60,000 IDR ($3.60 USD / $5.40 AUD).

You’ll stop here for 10-15 minutes to take in the view and grab some photos. Then it’s back on the bikes for a bit more riding before heading back to the start.

Washing Up

After parking the ATVs (the guides take care of them), the next stop is cleaning up. You’ll take off your borrowed boots, toss the plastic bag “socks,” and rinse off the mud and dirt in the outdoor showers. After hosing off the worst of it, we were given towels to use at the hot indoor showers.

The shower facilities are proper—individual cubicles with multiple separate showers. This is where you’ll want that fresh change of clothes we mentioned earlier.

Gift Shop and Photos

After getting clean, we were directed to the gift shop at the end. Here you can purchase photos of your tour (more on this below), souvenirs, and settle any bills from the rest stop. Once you’ve paid up, you’re free to go.

Shuttle to Cretya Sunset for Lunch

Once clean and settled up, we were taken back on the free shuttle to Cretya Sunset day club for our included lunch. Entrance to the day club is also included at no extra charge—this is a huge bonus since it’s a beautiful spot you’d probably want to visit anyway. More on that further below.

What The 5-Star Service Actually Means

Th service is dubbed as the only 5 star ATV tour in Ubud. In our experience, the “5-star” thing isn’t just marketing. Here’s what it looked like on our visit:

The Equipment: The ATVs are newer and clearly well-maintained. They had multiple options from 250cc up to massive 1000cc UTVs. Most other places only have the basic 250cc bikes. We felt safe on them, which matters when you’re navigating muddy jungle paths.

The Guides: Professional and genuinely helpful. They gave us a proper safety briefing (not just a quick “here’s the gas, here’s the brake” situation), and they stayed with the group the whole time. They know exactly where the good photo spots are and didn’t rush anyone.

What really impressed us: when they realized we were more comfortable on the bikes than others in our group, they split us up near the start. We got a private tour with our own guide while the other group of four got a different guide and took a slower pace. This kind of flexibility shows they actually care about everyone having the best experience possible, not just herding everyone through at the same speed.

The Facilities: This is where you really see the difference. After getting completely covered in mud, we had access to proper indoor and outdoor showers with hot water, towels, and actual bath products. There’s a powder room with hairdryers, which was clutch. And you get private lockers for your stuff—not just open shelves where you hope nothing goes missing.

The Extras: Insurance is included (peace of mind), and your package comes with a meal at their Cretya Sunset restaurant. After the ride, you can also use the pool and jacuzzi there. We weren’t expecting that, but it was great to cool off.

What Didn’t Feel 5-Star

The only thing really that didn’t fit the 5-star description was the temporary socks. Each person is given green plastic bags as socks to use in the supplied boots. To be honest it wasn’t an issue and we got water in our gumboots anyway, but it was the only point that we thought didn’t quite live up to the 5-star description.

Safety Stuff

Alasan Adventure takes Ubud ATV tour safety seriously. You get helmets and protective gear, detailed instructions before you start, guides who actually watch what’s happening during the ride, and ATVs that are maintained properly.

If you’ve never ridden an ATV before, don’t stress. They’re also set up for beginners and take it slow at first.

How It Compares to Other Ubud ATV Tours

We did a lot of research before booking, so here’s how Alasan Adventure stacks up against other options:

Is the Price Worth It?

This is the big question when looking at the best ATV tour Ubud options. Here’s what it’ll cost you:

The Official Pricing

On the Alasan Adventure website, the full range of prices are:

  • 250cc ATV Single: IDR 1,200,000 (~$71 USD / ~$108 AUD)
  • 250cc ATV Tandem: IDR 1,600,000 (~$95 USD / ~$143 AUD)
  • 450cc ATV Single: IDR 1,700,000 (~$101 USD / ~$152 AUD)
  • 450cc ATV Tandem: IDR 2,100,000 (~$125 USD / ~$188 AUD)
  • 850cc ATV Single: IDR 2,100,000 (~$125 USD / ~$188 AUD)
  • 850cc ATV Tandem: IDR 2,500,000 (~$148 USD / ~$224 AUD)
  • 800cc UTV Single: IDR 2,600,000 (~$154 USD / ~$233 AUD)
  • 800cc UTV Tandem: IDR 3,000,000 (~$178 USD / ~$269 AUD)
  • 1000cc UTV Single: IDR 3,000,000 (~$178 USD / ~$269 AUD)
  • 1000cc UTV Tandem: IDR 3,600,000 (~$214 USD / ~$323 AUD)

Booking is done via WhatsApp on here and payment occurs once you arrive. You arrange a booking with them and then pay before your tour. Somewhat easy, but this method is actually more expensive than buying tickets from some third party websites.

Where We Actually Bought Our Tickets

We booked through Klook and the prices are significantly cheaper. However, not all tour types are available on Klook — the 850cc ATV tours, 800cc UTV tours, and single 1000cc UTV tour aren’t offered there. We opted for one of the Klook options given the significant price savings (around 40%).

Alasan Adventure ATV Tours available on Klook:

  • 250cc ATV Single: IDR 720,000 (~$43 USD / ~$65 AUD) – Save 480,000 IDR (40%)
  • 250cc ATV Tandem: IDR 960,000 (~$57 USD / ~$86 AUD) – Save 640,000 IDR (40%)
  • 450cc ATV Single: IDR 1,020,000 (~$61 USD / ~$91 AUD) – Save 680,000 IDR (40%)
  • 450cc ATV Tandem: IDR 1,260,000 (~$75 USD / ~$113 AUD) – Save 840,000 IDR (40%)
  • 1000cc UTV Tandem: IDR 2,160,000 (~$128 USD / ~$194 AUD) – Save 1,440,000 IDR (40%)

The tickets were 100% legitimate — no issues whatsoever. We booked the evening beforehand, and we got a text message from Alasan Adventure the morning of our tour which confirmed everything including the time.

If you want the 850cc or 800cc options, you’ll need to book directly through the Alasan Adventure website, but you’ll probably pay full price. For most people, the 250cc or 450cc options on Klook offer the best value.

The “premium” tour that seems expensive on their website is actually competitive with budget operators when you book through Klook or similar platforms. We’ve linked the Klook tour we used so you can grab the cheaper tickets too.

So – Is It Worth It?

When you’re paying 720,000-1,260,000 IDR through Klook (depending on the ATV type), this becomes excellent value. Many other ATV tours in Ubud charge 750,000-1,200,000 IDR, so Alasan Adventure is competitively priced—but you’re getting significantly more for your money.

For roughly the same price as basic operators, you get:

  • Premium facilities (hot showers, modern changing rooms, powder rooms with hairdryers)
  • Free lunch at Cretya Sunset day club
  • Free entry to Cretya Sunset (pools, jacuzzis, rice terrace views)
  • Free shuttle between locations
  • Insurance coverage
  • Professional guides who adapt to skill levels
  • A legitimate, established profesisonal company (not some cowboy operator)

The safety standards are higher, the equipment is better maintained, and you’re dealing with the Alas Harum group’s reputation for quality. You get actual facilities instead of a garden hose shower, plus an entire day club experience included.

Even at full website price, the experience is noticeably better than budget tours. But at Klook prices? This is genuinely the best value for a premium ATV experience in Ubud. You’re not paying more for 5-star service — you’re paying the same or less and getting way more.

Planning Your Visit: What You Need to Know

What’s Included

Your Alasan Adventure package comes with all safety equipment (helmet, protective gear, boots if you need them), a professional guide for the whole tour, premium facilities (outdoor and indoor showers, towels, bath products), private lockers for your valuables, powder room with hairdryer, proper safety briefing with audio and visual aids, a meal at Cretya Sunset (lunch or dinner depending on when you go), insurance coverage, and access to the pool and jacuzzi at Cretya Sunset.

The Transportation Situation: Unlike some other tour operators in the area, Alasan Adventure does not provide hotel pickup or transfers. You need to get yourself there. We used Grab from our hotel just north of Ubud – it took us about 30 minutes and cost 110,000 IDR (~$6.50 USD / ~$10 AUD). If you’re staying closer to central Ubud, it’ll be slightly quicker and cheaper.

What to Bring

Pack a change of clothes because you will get muddy. Seriously muddy. Your clothes will get dirty, so don’t wear anything you’re precious about.

If you’re planning to hang out at Cretya Sunset afterward and use the pools, bring a towel. Towels are available but cost extra to hire.

Bring sunscreen and bug spray, and some cash for tips, drinks at the rest stop, or photos at the end (you can also pay by card). If you want to get a day bed at Cretya Sunset, be prepared for the minimum spend (ours was 500,000 IDR / ~$30 USD / ~$45 AUD) but we easily hit that with a few post-biking drinks and cocktails.

Leave everything else in your locker: We can’t stress this enough. Don’t bring your phone, sunglasses, watches, or anything valuable on the actual ride. You will lose it and might not ever get it back if it falls in the mud or water.. The lockers are free and secure—use them.

When to Go

Morning tours (8-9 AM) are the quietest and what we highly recommend. We took the early morning slot and had nobody in front of us, so there was zero congestion on the tracks. We never had to wait anywhere or slow down for other groups. Early morning is also cooler and less humid — afternoon tours can get seriously sweaty. The light is better for photos in the morning too, and if you’re heading to Cretya Sunset dayclub afterwards for your included lunch, you’ll basically have the place to yourself for a while.

Late morning and early afternoon tours can be the busiest times. More people on the tracks means more congestion and waiting.

Later afternoon tours (3-4 PM) can be quieter again, though not as quiet as early morning. The advantage is you might get dramatic lighting, but it’ll still be hot.

Wet season (November-March) means muddier trails, which some people prefer because it’s more adventurous.

Dry season (April-October) gives you more predictable weather but can be dustier on the trails.

Is this tour good for First-Timers?

Yes, completely. Neither of us had much ATV experience and we were fine. You don’t get a dedicated practice area—instead, you head straight onto the trails and the first section acts as your warm-up while the guides watch how everyone’s handling it. It’s actually a smart approach because they can see who needs extra help right away.

The guides are great at adapting to different skill levels. In our case, they split our group up near the start because we picked it up faster than the others—we ended up with essentially a private tour while the other group went at a slower pace with a different guide. If you’re nervous, they’ll give you more time and attention. If you’re confident, they’ll let you go at your own pace.

First-timers get detailed instruction during the initial briefing, guides who monitor you throughout the ride and adjust accordingly, and there’s no pressure to go faster than you’re comfortable with. The early morning tour also helps because with fewer people on the tracks, there’s less pressure to keep up with a crowd.

The Alas Harum Group Connection: Cretya Sunset Day Club

Something we didn’t expect but was a major highlight was that each ATV tour ticket includes lunch at Cretya Sunset, the day club run by the same company. Entrance to the day club is also included at no extra charge.

We knew nothing about this place beforehand. From the road, you honestly can’t tell what it is. But once we walked inside and took the elevator up to level 3 to the day club, we were genuinely surprised. The day club is a beautiful modern space with a bar, restaurant, plenty of day beds, and multiple pools and jacuzzis that overlook rice fields with views of Mount Batur in the distance. A luxurious way to end the trip.

The Included Meal

The included meal gives you a choice of four dishes:

  • Nasi Goreng Ayam (Chicken Fried Rice)
  • Penne Carbonara Pasta
  • Chicken Burger
  • Green Curry

We got the chicken burger and green curry. Both were delicious, though the curry was a bit watery in consistency. Not a big deal though — it still tasted good.

Day Beds, Drinks, and Extra Costs

You can sit at the restaurant tables for free, or upgrade to day beds. Day beds have a minimum spend—ours was 500,000 IDR (~$30 USD / ~$45 AUD), which we easily hit with a couple of coffees and a few drinks including beers.

Important: Towel hire and locker hire at Cretya Sunset are extra charges. If you’re planning to use the pools, factor this in or bring your own towel.

The Bottom Line on Cretya Sunset Day Club

You could easily stay at the club all day. We only stayed for a couple of hours, but it was incredibly serene. We watched the farmers in the rice paddies and just relaxed. We were almost the only ones there, probably because we did the early tour, so we arrived at the club early.

Alasan Adventure is part of the larger Alas Harum group, which operates several venues around the Tegallalang area including Cretya Ubud, Cretya Sunset (where you get lunch), and the main Alas Harum location with swings, ziplines, and coffee plantation across 25 hectares. These are all separate locations, but being part of the same group means consistently high standards across their different operations.

Getting To Alasan Adventure ATV

Important: Alasan Adventure doesn’t do hotel pickups. You’re on your own for transportation.

The Address: Jl. Raya Bresela No.8, Bresela, Tegallalang, Gianyar, Bali

From Your Hotel: We used Grab from our hotel, theAkohara Buahan Village Retreat (north of Ubud) and it took about 25 minutes and cost 110,000 IDR (~$6.50 USD / $10 AUD). From central Ubud it’s about the same — probably 20-25 minutes and around 110,000 – 130,000 IDR ($6-9 USD / $10-12 AUD)

Other Ways to Get There:

  • Rent a scooter (there’s parking there)
  • Hire a driver for the day
  • Use GoJek (same as Grab basically)
  • Regular taxi

Just search “Alasan Adventure” or “Alas Harum” on Google Maps and any driver will know where to go.

Bali ATV Tour Booking Tips

Book the early tour if you don’t like crowds. We took the 9 AM timeslot and had nobody in front of us on the tracks—zero congestion, zero waiting. It’s also cooler and less humid than afternoon tours. You’ll probably also have Cretya Sunset mostly to yourself afterward.

Book through Klook instead of the official website. You’ll save nearly 40% off the price with our link — we paid around 720,000 IDR (~$43 USD / $65 AUD) for the 250cc single vs 1,200,000 IDR ($71 USD / ~$108 AUD) on their site. Book via Klook here.

Bring a change of clothes. Your clothes will get dirty on the ATV—don’t wear anything nice.

If you’re planning to stay at Cretya Sunset afterward, bring a towel. Towels and lockers are available but cost extra to hire. Day beds also have a minimum spend (ours was 500,000 IDR / ~$30 USD / ~$45 AUD).

Leave valuables in the locker. Seriously, don’t bring your phone or anything you don’t want to lose on the actual ride.

Confirm your hotel location for the return Grab. Make sure you know exactly where you’re going back to and have the address ready, especially if you’re staying somewhere less central like we were.

Our Final Take

Activity Rating: 5/5

After trying Alasan Adventure and looking at what else is out there, we’d say this is the best ATV tour Ubud has to offer. The combination of beautiful scenery, professional service, good equipment, knowledgeable guides, included meal, and pool access makes it worth the money.

If you’re wondering “which ATV tour Ubud should I book” and you care about quality and safety, go with Alasan Adventure. The price is very competitive with many other options and can even be cheaper if booked via Klook, and the experience is noticeably better in ways that actually matter.

This isn’t just quad biking Ubud rice fields – it’s an actual premium experience that’ll stick with you. And yeah, you’ll definitely need to shower after because you’ll be covered in mud. But that’s half the fun.

Questions People Ask About ATV Tours in Ubud

How long does the tour take? The actual riding is 1-1.5 hours for the 6km track, or up to 2 hours for the 7km routes with bigger bikes. Our 250CC ATV tour lasted about 75-80 minutes. Total time including getting ready, the briefing, and showering after is about 3-4 hours.

Do you need ATV experience? Nope. We didn’t have much and it was totally fine. The guides walk you through everything.

What’s the age requirement? You need to be at least 16 to drive solo. Kids as young as 5 can ride as passengers with an adult.

Can two people ride on one ATV? Yes, they have tandem options. Though if you both want to drive, single ATVs are more fun.

Is this really the only 5-star ATV tour in Ubud? According to their website, Alasan Adventure is the only 5-star service ATV provider in all of Bali, not just Ubud. The difference is the facilities at the beginning and end, which can make a big difference to your experience.

Do they provide hotel pickup? No. You need to arrange your own transport. We used Grab from our hotel Akohara Buahan Village Retreat (north of Ubud) and it took about 25 minutes and cost 110,000 IDR (~$6.50 USD / $10 AUD). From central Ubud it’s about the same — probably 20-25 minutes and around 110,000 – 130,000 IDR ($6-9 USD / $10-12 AUD).

What about waterfall tours? Alasan Adventure focuses on rice fields, jungle, and cave tunnels. Some routes might have waterfall views depending on the season. We did drive past a couple of small waterfalls on our tour.

Is it worth it compared to other ATV tours? In our opinion, yes. The safety, equipment quality, guides, included meal, pool access, and premium facilities make the tour worth it. You’re getting the only 5-star ATV service in Bali. It is the same price or cheaper than almost all other Ubud ATV tours we came across.

What ATV sizes can you choose? They have the biggest selection we’ve seen: 250cc ATVs (beginner level), 450cc ATVs, 850cc ATVs called “The Beast”, 800cc UTVs called “Raven”, and 1000cc UTVs called “Titan”. Most other operators only have 250cc bikes.
